ACTIVITIES TO DO ON LGBTQ+ ADVOCACY DAY 2025
Meet with your legislators:
- Find and meet with legislators in their offices. During the afternoon, please make at least two attempts to visit each of the assigned legislators at their office.
- When the House convenes, go to the Rail (third floor of the State Capitol) and request legislators by submitting your card to the doorkeepers. Due to construction in the State Capitol, the Senate meets in full session in the auditorium of the Howlett Building. You can take a tunnel from the State Capitol to the Howlett Building (and back) without having to go through the metal detectors again.
After you’ve met with your legislators:
- During session, watch the House in action from the gallery on the 4th floor (individuals may need to go through a security screening on the 4th floor in order to enter the House gallery)
- Attend a legislative committee hearing
- Relax on the Capitol grounds, especially by the beautiful fountains in front of the Capitol*
- Grab a beverage at the coffee shop on the 2nd floor of the State Capitol
- State Capitol scavenger hunt!
- Get to know someone you haven’t met yet
- Check out the Old State Capitol or Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood*
*If you leave the Capitol, you will have to go through the metal detectors again if you want to return.
