Wilkerson

Eric Wilkerson is the Director of Advancement at Equality Illinois and has a strong background in fundraising and community-building. He enjoys creating spaces for LGBTQ people and allies to connect while fulfilling their philanthropic goals.

In 2005, Eric began his career in sales, learning how to navigate complex situations and manage many pipelines. While serving on an Executive Board of Directors for a major non-profit, he earned perspective that encouraged him to be passionate about philanthropy. During his time as a board member, he led efforts behind the launch of a capital fundraising campaign, served on the development and public relations committee, and served as the chairperson for their signature event for four consecutive years.

After moving to Chicago in 2013 from his home state of Arkansas, Eric transitioned from his career in sales to a career in non-profits, serving as Individual Giving Officer for the Center on Halsted, the Midwest’s largest LGBTQ community enter. Working at a community center that serves historically underserved communities, Eric learned first-hand how development work creates positive impact for individuals.

Eric was excited to inherit more responsibility by assuming the role as Director of Advancement at Equality Illinois in July 2016. Celebrating change and celebrating equality is exciting, but creating that change and helping create those equal rights is extraordinary.
