Equality Illinois celebrates Governor JB Pritzker for the diversity of leaders appointed to state boards and commissions in FY2024
Chicago, IL – On Tuesday, Governor JB Pritzker released his FY2024 Boards and Commissions Appointment Demographics Report. Equality Illinois is proud of the significant progress in the representation of LGBTQ+ individuals on state boards and commissions.
According to the FY24 report, Governor Pritzker appointed 40 LGBQ Illinoisans and 6 Trans Illinoisans to serve on State Boards and Commissions this past year.
Since the inception of Equality Illinois’s Boards and Commissions Initiative in October 2018, the progress has been striking. The number of out LGBQ+ appointees has grown from just 1 to 142, while the number of out Trans appointees has increased from 0 to 19.
These statistics reflect Equality Illinois and the Governor’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity within state leadership and ensuring that all voices are represented in decision-making processes.
