Today, same-sex couples in Illinois enjoy the protections only marriage can provide. And that historic victory would never have happened without Illinoisans who took action and made their voices heard for equality for all.  But the fight isn’t over yet; far from it actually. Because while we secured the freedom to marry in Illinois, we know we won’t truly be free until we secure the freedom to marry nationwide.

At the end of this month, Indiana’s and Wisconsin’s marriage cases will head to the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. So on Monday, August 25th, the eve of the Aug. 26 oral arguments, our friends will be rallying in Chicago to show the nation that the Midwest is ready for the freedom to marry.
Please RSVP for the rally.
WHAT: Rally for Marriage Equality
WHERE: Federal Plaza, Chicago  (Near the Dirksen Federal Building at Dearborn and Adams streets)
WHEN: Monday, August 25th at 5:30 pm CDT

It wasn’t that long ago when Illinoisans were denied the same fundamental freedoms that our friends in Indiana and Wisconsin are still denied today.
But because of years of hard work, we persevered through all the ups and downs and successfully passed the Illinois Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act late last year.

Now it’s our turn to give back, and help those in Wisconsin and Indiana who are still fighting to marry to be treated equally under the law. Also, thousands of Illinoisans work, vacation and do business in Indiana and Wisconsin, and it is absurd that they have their full rights in Illinois but not when they travel across the border.
With the 7th Circuit just one step below the U.S Supreme Court, these cases could lead to winning marriage nationwide. Let’s do what we can to make that happen.
Your RSVP helps us plan for the event.
