Equality Illinois Announces 2023 Gala Celebration

CHICAGO, IL - Equality Illinois with presenting sponsor Molson Coors Beverage Company will present its annual Gala on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Hilton Chicago.

Called the “who’s who of Illinois politics” by ABC News, the Equality Illinois Annual Gala is one of the preeminent LGBTQ+ equality events in the country. This sold out event will feature over 1,300 attendees,100 political figures, community VIPs, and some of the world’s most recognizable corporate and brand names.

This year, Equality Illinois will honor Nadine Smith, Executive Director of Equality Florida, with the Spotlight Award for her lifelong commitment to fighting for the civil rights and personal freedoms of all LGBTQ+ people and their families.

“As we confront escalating anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and rhetoric and see our community increasingly targeted by those who want to restrict our freedoms, Nadine’s leadership at the eye of that storm in Florida truly epitomizes the criteria for the Equality Illinois Spotlight Award. It’s an honor for Equality Illinois to celebrate her inspirational life-long advocacy for human rights and LGBTQ+ equality”, said Brian C. Johnson, CEO of Equality Illinois.

The Gala serves as the single-largest fundraising event for the Equality Illinois Institute, which funds ongoing educational and outreach work for LGBTQ+ equality throughout the state of Illinois.
